#StartupSouthX: A Decade of Innovation and Inclusion in Nigeria’s South-South

Port Harcourt, a dynamic hub within Nigeria’s South-South region, played host to the tenth anniversary of StartupSouth earlier this month. This event is recognized as one of Africa’s most consistent platforms dedicated to fostering innovation within a specific geographical area.

Auctus: A Celebration of the Past, A Vision for the Future

The theme for this milestone edition, “Auctus: Shaping the Next Decade of Business Innovation, Culture & Capital”, aptly captured the event’s dual purpose: celebrating a decade of growth while simultaneously strategizing for the future of the South-South’s digital economy. The two-day gathering, which took place from October 2-3, 2025, at 1 Stadium Road, Novotel, Port Harcourt, brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including founders, investors, policymakers, academics, and tech enthusiasts. The program offered a wide range of activities, from keynote speeches and fireside chats to dedicated deal rooms, startup pitch competitions, and policy discussions.

For Uche Aniche, the convener of StartupSouth, this tenth edition represented both a significant achievement and a clear indication of the direction the event is headed. The event has played a key role in promoting ecosystem growth in the South-South and South-East regions.
