Ghana Secures $23 Million in Japanese Grants for Infrastructure and Healthcare
Ghana has solidified its partnership with Japan through the signing of two grant agreements totaling approximately 3.5 billion Japanese Yen, equivalent to $23 million USD. These funds are earmarked for crucial infrastructure and healthcare developments within the nation.
Road and Healthcare Projects to Benefit
According to a statement made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the agreements will specifically finance the Kumasi Inner City Road Improvement Project and the Northern Region Improvement of Health Care System Project. The signing ceremony, held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, saw Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, Hiroshi Yoshimoto, representing the Japanese government. The Kumasi project aims to enhance road infrastructure within the Ashanti Region, while the Northern Region project seeks to improve access to and the quality of healthcare services for residents.
These grant facilities represent a significant boost to Ghana’s development efforts, promising to improve both transportation networks and healthcare access in key regions of the country.
