Sylvia Owusu-Ankomah to Lead Ghana’s Telecom and Digital Chambers
Sylvia Owusu-Ankomah is set to take the helm as the Chief Executive Officer of both the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications (GCT) and the Digital Chamber of Ghana (DCG), effective October 1, 2025. This dual appointment signifies a move towards stronger collaboration and unified advocacy for the telecom and digital sectors in Ghana. Owusu-Ankomah succeeds Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey, whose tenure of nearly eight years saw the establishment of the Digital Chamber’s foundation.

Owusu-Ankomah’s appointment is underpinned by her extensive experience spanning almost two decades across the telecommunications, digital, and Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industries. This diverse background positions her uniquely to effectively navigate the interests of industry players, the government, and consumers within Ghana’s evolving tech landscape. Her previous leadership roles at major companies like MTN Ghana, Tigo (Millicom Ghana), AirtelTigo, and Guinness Ghana have equipped her with a deep understanding of the market. Notably, during her time at MTN Ghana, she played instrumental roles in securing the vital 3G license and submarine cable landing rights, significantly strengthening the company’s data service capabilities. At AirtelTigo, she was involved with regulatory matters, demonstrating her ability to navigate the complexities of the Ghanaian telecommunications sector.
