Safaricom Spark Accelerator Announces 10 Startups for Cohort 2

Safaricom has unveiled the ten promising startups selected to participate in the second cohort of its Spark Accelerator Program. These startups, chosen from a highly competitive pool of over 200 applicants, represent a diverse range of innovative solutions poised to impact the African tech landscape. The program is geared towards accelerating their growth trajectory and ensuring their long-term sustainability.

Deep Dive into the Selected Startups and Program Structure

The chosen startups – Mediakits.Io, WePlay Arcade, GoPay, FlexPay, QuePay, Leta.AI, Oye, DigiTax, Incourage Insurance Agency Limited, and StockApp – will benefit from a rigorous three-month program. Safaricom CEO, Dr. Peter Ndegwa, highlighted the broadened scope of support, encompassing technology and product development assistance, market access facilitation, and crucial access to capital. The program is structured around two distinct tracks: an iHUB-led track focusing on a structured curriculum with expert-led workshops, advisory sessions, and mentorship, and a Corporate Engagement Track designed to foster strategic partnerships and real-world application of their solutions.

The Safaricom Spark Accelerator program demonstrates a commitment to nurturing the African tech ecosystem by providing critical resources and guidance to early-stage startups with high growth potential. By offering a blend of mentorship, training, and financial support, Safaricom aims to empower these ventures to scale their operations and contribute to the continent’s economic development.
