MultiChoice Strikes Back at Sam George’s DStv Package Claims

MultiChoice Ghana Contradicts Minister Sam George’s DStv Package Enhancement Announcement

MultiChoice Ghana Limited, the entity responsible for DStv operations in the country, has once again found itself at odds with the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George. This latest divergence centers on the highly anticipated enhancements to DStv subscriber packages. Minister George had recently informed the public that DStv customers in Ghana were poised to receive significantly more value for their subscriptions, an announcement that has now been directly countered by the service provider.

The Disputed DStv Value Proposition

Earlier this week, specifically on Monday, September 29, 2025, Minister Samuel Nartey George held a press briefing where he shared promising news for DStv subscribers. He asserted that following an agreement reached between his Ministry and MultiChoice Africa, Ghanaian subscribers would experience a substantial increase in value, ranging between 33% and 50%, depending on their specific DStv package or bouquet. This significant uplift in service, without a corresponding price increase, was slated to commence on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. The Minister emphasized that MultiChoice Africa had committed to rolling out an “unprecedented value offer” exclusively in Ghana, designed to provide subscribers with “more services for less.” However, MultiChoice Ghana Limited has since issued a statement directly refuting these claims, creating confusion and uncertainty among the DStv subscriber base regarding the imminent package upgrades and their promised benefits. This stark disagreement between the government and the DStv operator leaves the specifics of any potential value enhancement for Ghanaian customers unclear as the announced effective date approaches.

The ongoing discrepancy between the Communication Minister’s announcement and MultiChoice Ghana’s position places DStv subscribers in Ghana in a state of limbo. While Minister George’s assurance of substantial value additions offered a ray of hope for enhanced digital entertainment, MultiChoice Ghana’s swift contradiction means the reality of these promised benefits remains uncertain. This situation underscores the need for clear and unified communication from all parties involved, ensuring transparency for the millions of DStv users across the nation.
