Technology News: This 18-Year-Old is Leveling Up ChatGPT
While ChatGPT is a powerful tool for providing information and guidance, it currently lacks the ability to directly execute tasks like booking flights. It can advise on airlines and booking processes, but the actual booking remains the user’s responsibility. However, an innovative solution developed by a young Nigerian student is poised to change this.
ChatATP: Bridging the Gap Between AI and Action
Obinna Chimdi, an 18-year-old Mathematics and Computer Science student at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), has created ChatATP, an AI agent designed to enable ChatGPT to book flights directly. ChatATP functions as an intermediary, seamlessly connecting ChatGPT with airline websites. This allows users to simply use prompts within ChatGPT to initiate and complete flight bookings. Chimdi built ChatATP independently after facing difficulties in finding collaborators, stating to Techpoint Africa that prospective partners were too busy to join the project. His vision was to expand the capabilities of large language models, transforming them from conversational tools into agents capable of performing real-world actions.
Chimdi’s ChatATP highlights the potential for young African innovators to contribute significantly to the global tech landscape. By creating a bridge between AI and practical application, he’s demonstrated a powerful use case that could revolutionize how we interact with and utilize large language models.
