Vice President Advocates for Enhanced Ghana-China Relations to Drive Sustainable Growth

Ghana’s Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has emphasized the need for stronger trade and development collaborations between Ghana and China. Speaking in Accra at an event commemorating the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 65th anniversary of Ghana-China diplomatic ties, she highlighted the potential for such partnerships to create opportunities for Ghanaian youth and foster sustainable economic growth.

Strengthening Ties for Mutual Benefit

The Vice President acknowledged China’s significant contributions to Ghana’s infrastructural development, citing roads, hospitals, and schools as examples. She also drew attention to Ghana’s new 24-hour economy initiative, designed to generate employment and increase productivity, particularly among young people. Professor Opoku-Agyemang specifically urged both nations to broaden their cooperation within key sectors such as renewable energy, digital technology, and trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Furthermore, she encouraged Ghanaian businesses to actively pursue investment prospects within China.

In conclusion, the Vice President’s address underscores Ghana’s commitment to leveraging international partnerships, particularly with China, to drive economic progress and create a brighter future for its citizens.
