Fintech Association of Nigeria Eyes Partnership with SAIL Innovation Lab to Boost Tech Skills

The Fintech Association of Nigeria (FintechNGR) is exploring a potential collaboration with the SAIL Innovation Lab in Ikorodu, Lagos, to accelerate tech upskilling initiatives. A recent visit by key FintechNGR leaders, including Dr. Stanley Jacob, Dr. Jameelah Ayedun, and Dr. Segun Aina, highlighted the association’s interest in supporting SAIL’s efforts to bridge Nigeria’s digital skills gap and foster a thriving innovation ecosystem. The visit underscores FintechNGR’s commitment to strengthening the pipeline of tech talent within the country and across the African continent.

Addressing Real-World Challenges with Targeted Skills Development

Senator Tokunbo Abiru, the founder of SAIL Innovation Lab, explained that the initiative stemmed from a crucial need to equip young Nigerians with relevant skills beyond traditional academic qualifications. He emphasized that many talented individuals were struggling to find suitable employment due to a lack of technical and entrepreneurial expertise. The collaboration aims to provide these crucial skills, enabling more Nigerians to participate in the burgeoning tech and fintech sectors.

The potential partnership between FintechNGR and SAIL Innovation Lab signifies a strong step towards addressing the digital skills gap in Nigeria. By combining FintechNGR’s industry expertise with SAIL’s on-the-ground training programs, the collaboration promises to empower young Nigerians with the skills needed to thrive in the digital economy and contribute to the growth of the fintech ecosystem.
