Abia State Fuels Tech Growth: Peter Ukonu Appointed to Lead Skills Acquisition Center

Abia State Governor Alex Otti continues to demonstrate a forward-thinking approach to governance by establishing the Abia State Technological Skills Acquisition Center. A key component of this initiative is the appointment of Peter Ukonu as the inaugural Director-General, signaling a commitment to technological advancement and skills development within the state. This strategic move aims to build a technological hub for Abia State, potentially mirroring the impact of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) at a subnational level in Nigeria.

Ukonu’s Tech Expertise to Drive Digital Transformation

The announcement, made by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Kenneth Kalu, emphasized that Ukonu’s extensive background in software engineering, automation, and digital transformation were pivotal in his selection. Ukonu, a well-regarded Nigerian tech entrepreneur and automation expert, is the founder and CEO of Byte Cognetics, the company behind Antly, Africa’s pioneering No-Code AI Work Operating System. Antly has quickly gained recognition for significantly improving enterprise efficiency across Nigeria and other regions.

The selection of Ukonu points to Abia State’s strategic interest in promoting digital innovation and equipping its citizens with the necessary skills to thrive in the rapidly evolving tech landscape. This appointment is expected to be a significant step toward positioning Abia State as a hub for technological advancement and skilled labor, contributing to the broader digital transformation of Nigeria.
