Sissala Artisan Calls for Machinery to Drive Agricultural Mechanization
Sufyan Dinmua Moro, a 44-year-old artisan based in Sissala West, is seeking support to acquire essential machinery that would significantly enhance his production of farm implements and boost agricultural mechanization in the region. Moro’s plea highlights the critical role local artisans play in advancing agricultural technology and addressing the specific needs of farmers.
Overcoming Production Hurdles
Speaking with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Pulima, Moro expressed concern that the absence of vital tools such as a lathe machine, bending, key cutting, welding and gas cutter machines is limiting his ability to innovate and expand his production capacity. Despite these challenges, Moro has dedicated the past decade to manufacturing threshers, planters, and harrows tailored to ease the transition to mechanized farming for local farmers. His work includes creating threshers of varying sizes suitable for both smallholder farms and larger agricultural operations. Moro has also trained a number of young people in several communities, empowering them to produce threshers and other crucial farming implements for local farmers.
Moro’s dedication to supporting local agriculture through his craft underscores the importance of investing in local artisans and providing them with the resources they need to thrive. Increased support for artisans like Moro promises to accelerate agricultural mechanization, improve farm productivity, and create economic opportunities within the Sissala region and beyond.
