Future Bloggers: Digital Dreams of META Region Children
Today’s children are growing up immersed in a digital world. A recent Kaspersky study highlights a fascinating trend in the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa (META region): 42% of children surveyed aspire to be bloggers. This ambition isn’t simply wishful thinking; 44% are already actively engaged in creating content or planning their future blogs. The desire to be successful online is a powerful motivator for the youth of Africa and the rest of the META region.
The Allure of Online Influence and Income
The primary driver for these young digital natives is the allure of popularity. A significant 53% of the children surveyed cited the desire to gain recognition as their primary reason for wanting to become bloggers. Close behind, at 46%, is the enjoyment of creating video content. The perception of blogging as a potential pathway to financial gain also plays a significant role, with 36% viewing it as a relatively effortless way to earn money. Finally, 32% are drawn to blogging simply because it is perceived as “trendy” and “cool.” The rise of influencers is clearly impacting the aspirations of the region’s youth, fueling their interest in digital careers. It is also worth noting that the number of parents who want their children to blog is very small, at 16%.
The META region’s youth is increasingly influenced by digital platforms and content creators. This study showcases the growing influence of the digital world and the strong desires of the youth in the region to be a part of it.
