Nigeria Makes History: Hosting Its Inaugural Ethereum Conference & Pop-Up
August 2025 saw Nigeria take center stage in the global blockchain community, hosting its groundbreaking ETH Enugu ’25. This event was a first for the nation – a unique fusion of a Builder Residency, a Pop-up City, and an Ethereum Conference, all designed to foster decentralized collaboration over a two-week period. This bold initiative underscored Nigeria’s growing prominence in the African tech landscape and its embrace of the Ethereum ecosystem.
A Tripartite Blockchain Revolution
The ETH Enugu ’25 experience was structured around three core elements. The first, the Builder Residency, kicked things off with an overwhelming response. Out of 300+ applications from 15 different countries, 50 talented builders – including developers, designers, and thought leaders – were selected. For two weeks, these residents dove headfirst into workshops, participated in late-night coding sessions, and engaged in mentor-led discussions. The residency was more than just a technical exercise; it was about building relationships, nurturing confidence, and birthing projects that would help to move the Ethereum ecosystem forward. The event attracted attendees from across Nigeria, including Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Anambra, Abakaliki, Nsukka, and Owerri, as well as from Ghana, the United States, Kenya, and Colombia, highlighting its international appeal and the growing interest in blockchain technology across the African continent.
The Pop-Up City experience will be discussed.
