MTN Nigeria Restores Network Services in Adamawa, Borno, and Kano States

MTN Nigeria has announced the successful restoration of network services across 101 sites spanning 15 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Adamawa, Borno, and Kano States. This positive development follows a scheduled network maintenance operation completed on Sunday, August 24, 2025. This is a significant step in improving connectivity for a large portion of Northern Nigeria, an area where reliable mobile network infrastructure is crucial for both daily life and economic activity.

Addressing Infrastructure Challenges

The recent maintenance was conducted to resolve infrastructure issues that had impacted MTN’s operations within the affected regions. The core of the upgrade involved redirecting network traffic to a newly established fibre optic span. This new fibre infrastructure was installed along the AFCOT–Bawo Village route in Adamawa State, effectively replacing a segment of the network that had been damaged. This strategic replacement underscores MTN’s commitment to ensuring resilient and dependable network access in these areas, often characterized by challenging environmental conditions and security concerns that can impact infrastructure.

MTN Nigeria, in a press release, confirmed that all affected sites are now fully operational, and subscribers can once again enjoy normal services. The company expressed gratitude for the patience of its subscribers and offered a sincere apology for any inconvenience caused by the downtime. The entire operation was successfully completed within the initially planned timeframe. This efficient execution demonstrates MTN’s dedication to maintaining a robust network infrastructure, particularly in areas crucial for communication and economic development across Northern Nigeria.
