Tech News: African Developer Challenges ChatGPT with Data-Driven AI

Creating an AI product that surpasses the capabilities of OpenAI’s ChatGPT seemed like an insurmountable task. However, Abiodun Adetona, a former Flutterwave developer, has defied these odds. He built an AI product that quickly gained traction, attracting 1,000 users in a mere 24 days after launch, all without any marketing efforts. This success highlights the growing innovation within the African tech scene.

Decoding Decide: AI for Data Analysis and Decision-Making

Adetona’s product, named Decide, is designed to assist users in making informed decisions by leveraging the power of data analysis. Decide’s core functionality revolves around generating comprehensive dashboards from simple user prompts. For example, if a user inputs the prompt “Give me a dashboard of Nigeria’s economic outlook,” the platform generates a complete website. This website includes interactive charts, relevant figures, and insightful commentary regarding the Nigerian economy. In stark contrast, when the same prompt was given to ChatGPT, it generated only lines of code. While that code could potentially lead to the creation of a similar dashboard, it is not immediately useful for users without development expertise. Beyond this, Decide’s platform allows users to upload their own datasets. It can then automatically clean the data and then generate dashboards directly from this uploaded information, providing a more personalized and adaptable experience.
