Toyota Connect: Revolutionizing In-Car Connectivity in South Africa
Toyota South Africa is taking a significant step towards the future of connected vehicles by partnering with technology group Altron, through its subsidiary Netstar, and telecommunications giant Vodacom Business. This collaboration will bring in-car Wi-Fi and advanced connectivity features to all new Toyota and Lexus models sold in South Africa, enhancing the driving experience for consumers and supporting the region’s growing tech landscape.
A Connected Future: Toyota Connect and its Benefits
The partnership, born out of the increasing importance of telematics and telecommunications in modern vehicles, will integrate the new “Toyota Connect” hub into the existing MyToyota App. This integration will grant Toyota owners access to a variety of convenience and safety benefits, streamlining the ownership experience. Andrew Kirby, CEO of Toyota South Africa, highlighted that the partnership was crucial given the evolving demands of the automotive sector. Starting September 1st, 2019, in-car Wi-Fi became a standard feature across all new Toyota and Lexus models sold in the country. This move positions Toyota as a frontrunner in offering connected car technology in the South African market and contributes to the expansion of digital services.
