The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) recently convened a crucial three-day Strategy Review Workshop in Accra, signaling a proactive approach to the burgeoning aviation sector. From August 12th to 14th, 2025, management, board members, and crucial stakeholders gathered to assess the GCAA’s performance in 2025 and strategically plan for 2026-2028. The workshop underscores Ghana’s commitment to aligning with international aviation standards while proactively addressing future industry demands.

Addressing Future Challenges in Aviation

During his half-year report at the workshop, Acting Director-General Rev Stephen Wilfred Arthur emphasized the aviation industry’s longstanding reputation as the safest mode of transportation, citing stringent safety measures, highly skilled professionals, and cutting-edge technology. However, Rev Arthur cautioned that the industry faces evolving challenges that demand innovative solutions. He specifically highlighted the need to adapt to rising passenger volumes, fortify cybersecurity defenses, and mitigate the impact of climate change. His comments suggest a future-oriented approach, particularly concerning Ghana’s stated ambition to lead in Sustainable Aviation Fuel adoption.
