DTI and Mastercard Foundation Empower 1200 Master Craft Persons, SMEs, and PWDs in Ghana with Precision Quality

The Design and Technology Institute (DTI), in a significant collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation, has achieved a remarkable milestone by successfully training and graduating approximately 1200 individuals. This transformative initiative focused on equipping Master Craft Persons (MCPs), Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), and Artisanal Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) with crucial skills in integrating Precision Quality (PQ) into their business models. This strategic partnership underscores a commitment to enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of Ghana’s informal sector, positioning skilled artisans as key drivers of national economic development.

Integrating Precision Quality for Inclusive Economic Growth

The comprehensive training program culminated in a grand graduation ceremony at the National Theatre in Accra, under the impactful theme ‘Precision Quality at Work: Integrating the Informal Sector into the Larger Ghanaian Economy’. The diverse cohort of graduates represented 13 batches from various communities across the Greater Accra Region, highlighting the program’s broad reach. Notably, among the 1200 graduates were 58 physically challenged persons, underscoring the initiative’s dedication to inclusivity. This special group received targeted support, including essential mobility aids like wheelchairs, crutches, and walker support, alongside vital start-up equipment such as industrial sewing machines and hairdryer machines. By integrating Precision Quality into their operations, these graduates are now better positioned to elevate standards, foster innovation, and meet the demands of a modern economy. This empowerment of skilled artisans and entrepreneurs is critical for formalizing and strengthening the informal sector, driving sustained economic growth and creating new opportunities across Ghana.

This monumental achievement by DTI and the Mastercard Foundation marks a crucial step towards fostering excellence and innovation within Ghana’s informal sector. By equipping 1200 individuals with Precision Quality expertise and providing targeted support, the program not only enhances individual livelihoods but also significantly contributes to the broader national development agenda. These newly empowered master craft persons, SMEs, and PWDs are now poised to play a pivotal role in driving economic resilience and integrating the informal sector more deeply into Ghana’s thriving economy.
