Fisheries Minister Remembers Late Dr. Murtala as “Meeting of Minds”

The Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Emelia Arthur, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, the late Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation. The tribute, shared on social media platform X, highlights the significant collaboration between the two ministers, particularly their joint efforts on Ghana’s National Blue Economy Strategy. This shared initiative focused on the sustainable management and development of Ghana’s marine and coastal resources. The passing of Dr. Murtala represents a significant loss for the nation, especially given their ongoing work.

A Partnership for Ghana’s Future

Arthur’s heartfelt tribute, posted after the burial ceremony on August 10, 2025, at the Military Cemetery, emphasized the profound impact of Dr. Mohammed’s leadership. She fondly recalled their shared work on Ghana’s National Blue Economy Strategy. Arthur characterized their working relationship as “a true meeting of minds.” She praised Dr. Mohammed’s approach to leadership, noting his preparedness, fact-based decision-making, and unwavering compassion. Arthur highlighted how he led “with both your head and your heart.” The impact of their work and this collaboration is intended to safeguard the marine and coastal resources of Ghana, a vital aspect of the Ghanaian economy and culture.
