Blida Receives Second Phase of Desalinated Water Transfer from Fouka 2
The Algerian province of Blida has initiated the second phase of its project to transport desalinated water from the Fouka 2 desalination plant, located in the neighboring province of Tipasa. The inauguration was overseen by the provincial governor, Ibrahim Ouchane, marking a significant step in improving water accessibility for the region. This development highlights the importance of technological solutions, such as water desalination, in addressing water scarcity challenges prevalent in many African regions.
Expanding Water Access in Eastern Blida
This second phase specifically aims to provide potable water to several municipalities in eastern Blida, most notably Bouinan and Boufarik. This project is part of a larger national initiative to diversify water sources and meet the rising demand attributed to population growth and local economic expansion. The daily volume of desalinated water being transferred in this phase is substantial, reaching 20,000 cubic meters per day. This water is channeled through the El Chiffa pumping station. Furthermore, the municipalities of Larbaâ and Ouled Slama are also benefiting, receiving an additional 2,500 cubic meters daily from a local water collection site. This combined effort underscores the commitment to ensuring reliable water supplies.
In conclusion, the Blida province’s successful implementation of the second phase of desalinated water transfer is a critical stride toward sustainable water management, especially considering water scarcity issues in many African nations.
