# Enhanced Safety Measures for Portable Chargers
Under the revised regulations, passengers are strictly prohibited from using power banks to charge their electronic devices while onboard. Furthermore, charging power banks themselves via the aircraft’s power outlets is also forbidden. These stringent measures directly address the inherent risks posed by lithium batteries, which are susceptible to overheating and potential thermal runaway if damaged or overcharged, thereby creating a fire hazard. Emirates specifies that each passenger is permitted to carry only one power bank, which must have a clear capacity rating printed on it and be under 100 Watt Hours (Wh). For optimal safety and accessibility, these devices must be stowed in the seat pocket or directly under the seat in front, rather than in the overhead compartments.
