Jumia Technologies AG, the prominent e-commerce platform across Africa, announced robust financial results for the second quarter of 2025 on August 7, 2025. The company reported a significant 25% year-over-year (YoY) increase in revenue, reaching $45.6 million, a clear indicator of its expanding influence and the burgeoning demand within the African digital economy. This strong performance underscores Jumia’s strategic advancements and growing dominance in the continent’s dynamic online retail landscape.

Financial Performance and Future Outlook

Jumia’s Q2 2025 financial report showcased not only revenue growth but also considerable improvements in its profitability metrics. The company successfully narrowed its operating loss by 18% to $16.5 million and reduced its adjusted EBITDA loss by 17% to $13.6 million. These improvements reflect effective cost management and operational efficiencies. The surge in revenue, up from $36.5 million in Q2 2024, demonstrates Jumia’s enhanced capability to capitalize on rising e-commerce penetration across its nine operational markets. Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV) also experienced a healthy uptick, growing 6% YoY to $180.2 million, or 5% in constant currency. Notably, Nigeria emerged as a key growth driver, with its GMV soaring by an impressive 36% YoY. Bolstered by these strong results and increasing order volumes, Jumia has optimistically revised its full-year 2025 guidance. The African tech giant is now targeting to achieve breakeven by Q4 2026 and anticipates reaching full-year profitability by 2027, signalling a pivotal turning point for the company.

This quarter’s results solidify Jumia’s position at the forefront of African e-commerce. The substantial revenue growth coupled with a clear path to profitability highlights the company’s resilient business model and its ability to adapt to the evolving demands of the African consumer market. With strategic initiatives driving higher order volumes and improved financial health, Jumia is well-positioned to continue its trajectory as a leading force in Africa’s digital transformation.
