Analysis of MoMo Trends
Despite a 10.2% month-on-month decrease from May’s GH¢360 billion, the June 2025 figure demonstrates a significant 44.3% increase compared to June 2024, when transactions totaled GH¢224 billion. This indicates a sustained upward trend in the adoption of mobile money services. The number of transactions also experienced a minor decline, dropping from 796 million in May to 735 million in June, a 7.7% decrease. However, this still represents a considerable increase compared to the 644 million transactions recorded in June of the previous year. The growth highlights the continued importance of mobile money as a key driver of financial inclusion and economic activity in Ghana.
In conclusion, the latest data from the Bank of Ghana paints a picture of a thriving mobile money ecosystem in Ghana. While short-term fluctuations are evident, the overall trend points towards sustained growth and increasing adoption of digital payment solutions, solidifying mobile money’s position as a vital component of the Ghanaian economy.
