Morocco’s Aerospace Sector Propels Exports to MAD 14.13 Billion in Early 2025
Morocco’s aerospace industry continues to demonstrate remarkable strength, with its exports reaching an impressive MAD 14.13 billion (approximately $1.41 billion) during the first six months of 2025. This significant figure, reported by the Office des Changes, marks an 8.8% increase compared to the same period in the previous year, underscoring the sector’s vibrant growth and its increasing prominence in the global aeronautics landscape. This upward trend solidifies Morocco’s position as a burgeoning hub for high-tech manufacturing and a key player in the African technology ecosystem.
Driving Forces Behind the Continued Ascent
The sustained expansion of Morocco’s aerospace exports is primarily attributed to robust performances in key manufacturing segments. The Assembly segment, a critical component of aircraft production, saw a substantial increase of MAD 728 million ($72.8 million) in exports. Similarly, the Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS) segment contributed significantly to this growth, advancing by MAD 427 million ($42.7 million). This recent success extends a decade of exceptional transformation for the sector. Between 2014 and 2024, Morocco’s aeronautical exports more than tripled, skyrocketing from MAD 7.69 billion ($769 million) to MAD 26.44 billion ($2.64 billion). This represents an astounding 244% surge over ten years, translating to an average annual growth rate of approximately 13%. The Assembly segment, in particular, has consistently proven to be a powerhouse within this flourishing industry, reflecting deep specialization and efficiency.
The impressive trajectory of Morocco’s aerospace sector highlights its strategic importance to the nation’s economic diversification and industrial development. With consistent growth, significant investment, and the establishment of new partnerships—such as the planned aerospace centers by Boeing and Alphavest Capital—Morocco is poised to further enhance its capabilities and reinforce its status as a leading destination for aerospace manufacturing and innovation on the African continent. This robust performance sets a promising outlook for continued expansion and job creation in this advanced industrial domain.
