Mahama’s ‘Reset Agenda’: Powering Ghana’s Future Through Digital Transformation

Ghana’s strategic path towards comprehensive development is increasingly anchored in digital transformation, a core tenet of President John Dramani Mahama’s ‘Reset Agenda’. This forward-looking vision was underscored by Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, during his address at the inaugural MOBEX Africa Partnership Day in Accra on July 31, 2025. Speaking under the theme “Powering Innovations Through Partnerships,” Debrah articulated how technology and innovation are being positioned at the heart of an inclusive national development strategy, aiming to reshape Ghana’s economic and social landscape.

Digital Transformation: The Core of the Reset Agenda

The ‘Reset Agenda’ is championed as a bold and innovative framework designed to harness the power of technology for national progress. Julius Debrah emphasized the President’s unwavering commitment to building a Ghana where digital capabilities drive equitable growth and strengthen institutional capacities. He stated, “President Mahama’s Reset Agenda envisions a Ghana where technology powers inclusive growth through strategic partnerships. Where our institutions are strengthened, and where our digital future is shaped and owned by Ghanaians.” This ambitious agenda builds upon significant groundwork laid during Mahama’s previous administration, which saw crucial public-private initiatives expand e-Government infrastructure, establish and operationalize the National Data Centre, and considerably enhance rural connectivity across the nation. These foundational steps are pivotal to the current administration’s strategy, demonstrating a long-term commitment to a digitally-empowered citizenry and economy within the broader African tech landscape.

The emphasis on strategic partnerships, as highlighted at the MOBEX Africa event, signifies a collaborative approach to innovation, ensuring that the digital future is not only technologically advanced but also inclusive and domestically owned. This strategic direction aims to foster an environment where Ghanaian ingenuity and enterprise can thrive, leveraging digital solutions to address development challenges and unlock new opportunities for all.
