AfriLabs Fuels African Tech Boom, Supporting 280,000 Entrepreneurs

AfriLabs, Africa’s largest network of innovation hubs, is making significant strides in fostering the continent’s burgeoning tech ecosystem. Its recent 2024 Impact Report highlights its impressive reach, revealing direct support for over 280,000 entrepreneurs and startups. This achievement underscores AfriLabs’ vital role in nurturing innovation across Africa at a time of global economic shifts and reduced venture capital investment in emerging markets. With an extensive network comprising 519 hubs spread across 53 African countries and over 220 cities, AfriLabs continues to be a driving force behind Africa’s digital transformation.

Building Capacity and Creating Opportunities

Beyond direct support for entrepreneurs, AfriLabs’ impact extends to job creation and skills development. The organization reports that it has facilitated the creation of over 100,000 jobs through a combination of skills training, innovation assistance, and broader ecosystem development in key markets such as Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Egypt, and Cameroon. Furthermore, AfriLabs is dedicated to empowering women and young people. The organization has successfully equipped 444 women with essential business skills and access to funding across five countries. Moreover, through its Talent4Startups program, AfriLabs has trained 173 young Africans, providing them with crucial digital skills aimed at enhancing their career prospects and ensuring they are well-prepared for the demands of the digital economy.
