Morocco to Establish Data and AI Hub in Casablanca for Digital Transformation
Morocco is taking a significant step forward in its digital transformation journey. A collaborative agreement has been formalized in Rabat to create a data and artificial intelligence (AI) excellence center in the Casablanca-Settat region. This strategic project, involving key government bodies, the Moroccan Investment and Export Development Agency (AMDIE), and the French technology firm Onepoint, aims to position Morocco as a leader in the African tech landscape.
Driving Digital Innovation and National Competitiveness
The newly established data and AI center is a pivotal component of Morocco’s broader “Morocco Digital 2030” national strategy. The center is designed to provide state-of-the-art infrastructure geared towards data analytics and AI applications. This initiative seeks to modernize public services, fuel digital innovation across various sectors, and enhance the competitiveness of Moroccan industries within the global market. The project’s core objective includes the recruitment and training of 500 Moroccan professionals in these critical fields within the next four years. The collaborative nature of the initiative reflects a commitment to fostering indigenous talent and building a robust digital economy. The signing ceremony was attended by key government officials, highlighting the importance of this venture for Morocco’s digital future.
