Bordj Bou Arréridj: 10 Aircraft Deployed to Combat Fire in Theniet En-Nasr

A significant wildfire erupted in the El Kariou area of Theniet En-Nasr, Bordj Bou Arréridj, on Wednesday, prompting an intensive firefighting operation. The scale of the blaze necessitated the deployment of a considerable aerial fleet, demonstrating the ongoing challenges faced by North African nations in managing environmental disasters, potentially exacerbated by climate change. The rapid mobilization of resources highlights the importance of coordinated emergency response in protecting both natural resources and the safety of local communities.

Aerial and Ground Forces Unite

According to Lieutenant-Colonel Ali Dahmane Rabah, the head of information for the Civil Protection Directorate, no fewer than ten firefighting aircraft were dispatched to combat the flames. These aircraft, belonging to the Civil Protection, were mobilized from Béjaïa, Annaba, and Jijel. Their efforts, along with ground support from mobile units from Bordj Bou Arréridj, Bejaia, and M’sila, proved crucial in containing and extinguishing several fire outbreaks. Further assistance was provided by Civil Protection personnel from Bouira and Sétif, underscoring the collaborative nature of the response. A central operational command center was established to oversee and coordinate the actions of the various firefighting units. The National People’s Army (ANP) also played a supportive role, assisting in the evacuation of residents from villages near the fire-affected zone. Citizens also actively contributed to these efforts, highlighting community solidarity in the face of this environmental threat.
