Kenya and Tanzania Launch New Fiber Link to Boost Digital Connectivity
A significant step forward for East Africa’s digital future has been taken with the official launch of the Dar-es-Salaam to Mombasa Terrestrial Fiber Link. This cross-border initiative, spearheaded by Kenya and Tanzania, is set to revolutionize digital communication and connectivity within the region. The launch, held at the Lunga Lunga–Horohoro border, saw the presence of William Kabogo, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, and his Tanzanian counterpart, Hon. Jerry William Silaa.

The fiber optic project, a collaboration between Kenya’s ICT Authority (ICTA) and the Tanzania Telecommunications Corporation (TTLC), is poised to provide a host of benefits.
