MTC Extends Telecoms Reach in Namibia with New Mobile Home in Omuthiya
Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) Namibia has officially launched a new Mobile Home in Omuthiya, a move set to significantly improve access to telecoms services for approximately 7,000 residents in the Oshikoto Region’s administrative capital. This initiative highlights MTC’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and extending its services to previously underserved communities.
Bringing Convenience to Omuthiya Residents
The establishment of the MTC Mobile Home addresses a critical need in Omuthiya. Previously, residents faced the inconvenience of travelling 83 kilometers to Ondangwa to access essential MTC services. The new facility will provide a comprehensive range of services locally, including SIM card registration and replacements, account payments, renewals, and contract applications. This localized access is expected to empower residents and facilitate greater participation in the digital economy.
MTC’s investment in Omuthiya demonstrates a broader trend of mobile operators in Africa striving to enhance connectivity and accessibility in rural and peri-urban areas. By bringing essential telecoms services closer to the people, MTC is contributing to socio-economic development and fostering greater digital inclusion across Namibia.
