Global Leaders Unveil Ten-Point Roadmap for AI Governance

A landmark ten-point roadmap designed to shape a future of inclusive, reliable, and innovative artificial intelligence was unveiled at the AI Governance Dialogue 2025. Presented during the AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva, the initiative was co-chaired by H.E. Eng. Majed Al Mesmar of the UAE’s Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority and Ms. Anne Bouverot, France’s Special Envoy for AI. The plan provides a structured pathway for global collaboration on the critical challenge of governing rapidly advancing AI technologies, moving the conversation from abstract ideals to concrete actions.

Core Recommendations for a Responsible AI Future

The roadmap emphasizes several key pillars to guide the international community. A central recommendation is the urgent need to transition from high-level principles to practical implementation. This involves adopting agile frameworks and technical standards that can effectively guide the responsible development and deployment of AI systems. Furthermore, the plan champions a multi-stakeholder approach, stressing the importance of involving governments, civil society, the private sector, and academia in policy-making. Through dedicated capacity-building mechanisms, this approach aims to ensure every country, including those across the burgeoning African tech landscape, has a genuine say in shaping global AI policies. Finally, the framework calls for unwavering transparency in AI models and their decision-making processes, identifying this as an essential precondition for building public trust and accountability.

This collaborative blueprint signals a pivotal moment in the global effort to harness AI for good. By focusing on actionable standards, inclusive participation, and fundamental transparency, the roadmap provides a pragmatic guide for navigating the complexities of AI. Its success will depend on a sustained commitment from all nations to work together, ensuring that the benefits of artificial intelligence are distributed equitably and its development aligns with shared human values.
