121 Million NIN Enrollments: Why Some Nigerian States Lead the Way
Nigeria’s National Identification Management Commission (NIMC) has announced significant progress in the National Identification Number (NIN) enrollment drive, with the total count reaching an impressive 121,404,601 as of June 2025. This achievement underscores NIMC’s dedication to its ambitious goal of registering 85% of Nigeria’s estimated 220 million people by December 2025. The addition of over 7 million new enrollments in the first half of the year alone highlights the momentum, yet a substantial gap remains, requiring the capture of approximately 67 million more Nigerians to meet this comprehensive target. This concentration suggests that while nationwide efforts are underway, certain regions exhibit significantly higher rates of adoption and access to registration facilities.
