Now in its sixth year, the challenge has built an impressive legacy, engaging over 700 students hailing from 40 universities across 17 different nations. This collaborative platform has fostered the generation of more than 115 innovative project ideas, each contributing directly to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7), which advocates for affordable and clean energy for all. This year, beyond Gulu University’s gold, another Ugandan institution, Makerere University, also received recognition, earning a silver award for their “eco-solar c” project, further underscoring the strong innovative spirit within Uganda’s academic landscape.
