Algiers Enhances Power Grid with New Electrical Installations Ahead of Summer
The Algerian electricity and gas distribution company has been actively upgrading its infrastructure in Algiers in preparation for the summer season. Several new electrical installations have been commissioned in recent weeks by the distribution directorates of Algiers, a move designed to strengthen the distribution network and guarantee a continuous power supply throughout the hotter months.
Addressing Increased Summer Demand
These strategic investments are specifically aimed at meeting the anticipated surge in electricity demand during the summer, a period characterized by rising temperatures and increased energy consumption. The company’s overarching plan focuses on delivering a high-quality service to residents and businesses across Algiers. The Sidi Abdellah distribution directorate highlighted its contributions, noting the installation of 2.2 kilometers of high-voltage electricity distribution networks. Furthermore, they have implemented five new electrical transformers, supported by the construction of 14.55 kilometers of distribution network and the rehabilitation of 7.25 kilometers of existing high-voltage network. An additional 12 kilometers of distribution network has also been established as part of this comprehensive upgrade.
These infrastructure enhancements underscore Algeria’s commitment to providing reliable electricity to its citizens, particularly during peak demand periods. The investments are crucial for maintaining stable power supply and preventing disruptions as the summer season approaches.
