Black Rock Mining, which previously financed Makate’s legal proceedings, is seeking 40% of the settlement amount. According to reports in the Sunday Times, the company has filed urgent court papers in the Johannesburg High Court to prevent Vodacom from releasing the funds to Makate until its claim is resolved. The hearing is scheduled for November 18. This legal action follows a previous arbitration where Black Rock’s claim was rejected. However, the company is persisting in its efforts to secure its portion of the settlement, maintaining it represents investor interests.
