Bolt, the ride-hailing giant, is witnessing remarkable adoption of its dash cam program, with South Africa and Nigeria leading the charge globally. The initiative, aimed at enhancing safety for both drivers and passengers, has been met with enthusiastic embrace in these African nations. This surge signifies a growing commitment to safety within the ride-hailing industry and highlights the impact of community-driven innovation.

South Africa and Nigeria: Leading the Dash Cam Revolution

South Africa is currently the leading market for Bolt’s dash cam initiative, boasting over 2,724 drivers who have installed the approved cameras. This impressive figure surpasses all other Bolt markets worldwide, demonstrating the country’s proactive approach to safety and accountability within the ride-hailing sector. Nigeria follows closely behind, with 1,596 drivers utilizing the dash cam technology. Paraguay rounds out the top three with 1,028 drivers. This adoption rate represents the highest for any feature Bolt has launched in any country since its inception. Bolt reports that this milestone underscores a shift in how ride-hailing safety is perceived and prioritized, with drivers in both countries proactively adopting tools to safeguard themselves and their passengers. Simo Kalajdzic, Senior Operations Manager at Bolt South Africa, emphasized the significance of this achievement, stating that it proves how “when innovation meets community, progress accelerates.”

This widespread adoption of dash cams by Bolt drivers in South Africa and Nigeria signals a promising trend towards greater transparency and improved safety within the African ride-hailing landscape. The initiative showcases the potential of technology to empower drivers and contribute to a safer environment for everyone involved in the ride-hailing ecosystem.
