Group-IB and BOCRA Join Forces to Combat Cybercrime in Botswana

Cybersecurity firm Group-IB has forged a strategic alliance with the Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA) to bolster the nation’s defenses against the rising tide of cybercrime. The two organizations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that outlines a collaborative framework for sharing threat intelligence, conducting joint investigations, and enhancing Botswana’s overall digital resilience. This partnership is crucial for safeguarding businesses and individuals from increasingly sophisticated online threats.

Strengthening Botswana’s Cybersecurity Posture

The core of the agreement revolves around Group-IB’s support for BOCRA in proactively monitoring various forms of cyber threats specific to Botswana. This includes identifying and tracking scams, phishing attacks, compromised payment information, and illicit activities occurring within the cybercriminal underground. Furthermore, the MoU emphasizes capacity building, with Group-IB providing expertise and training in critical areas such as digital forensics, incident response, and advanced cybercrime investigation techniques. Dmitry Volkov, CEO of Group-IB, emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating it represents a key step in the company’s commitment to fighting cybercrime globally.

This collaboration marks a significant step forward in protecting Botswana’s digital landscape. By combining Group-IB’s global threat intelligence and cybersecurity expertise with BOCRA’s regulatory authority and local knowledge, Botswana is poised to significantly enhance its ability to prevent, detect, and respond to cyber threats, creating a safer and more secure online environment for its citizens and businesses.
