I Tried Planning a BBQ on Piggyvest’s PartyVest: A Nigerian Tech Adventure
Confession time: I’m not a natural event planner. Hosting anything usually triggers my anxiety, and the thought of juggling multiple communication channels, budget tracking, and vendor calls fills me with dread. However, when I heard about PartyVest, a feature on the Piggyvest app designed to streamline event planning, I was intrigued. Could this Nigerian tech solution actually simplify the chaos? I decided to test it out by planning a small barbecue for five friends. While the barbecue ultimately didn’t happen, the experience of using the app was surprisingly engaging.
Navigating the ‘Faaji’ Ecosystem with Piggyvest
PartyVest, which launched in September 2025, aims to solve a common problem in Nigeria: our love for celebrations coupled with the challenges of organizing them. According to General Manager Mobola Awe, the app provides a centralized platform to manage all aspects of event planning. I found the app’s features promising, from group chat integration to budgeting tools and payment tracking. The idea of having everything in one place, instead of a scattered collection of apps and notebooks, was incredibly appealing. Although my BBQ didn’t come to fruition, the process of using PartyVest to map out the event was, unexpectedly, almost enjoyable. It offered a glimpse into how technology can reshape the Nigerian culture of celebration, making it easier and less stressful for everyone involved.
