AUI Brings Global Voices Together for 2025 AI Summer School on Responsible AI
Al Akhawayn University (AUI) in Rabat recently concluded its third annual AI Summer School, drawing participants from across the globe. The event, held from August 25th to 30th, brought together students, researchers, and industry professionals from Morocco, other African nations, Europe, the Americas, and Asia to explore the multifaceted world of Artificial Intelligence. The focus was not only on AI’s potential but also on the crucial ethical and societal considerations that accompany its development and deployment.
Responsible AI at the Forefront
This year’s theme, “Responsible AI: Designing with Safety, Fairness, and Impact,” provided the framework for the entire program. Attendees engaged in a diverse range of activities, including lectures, hands-on workshops, and a dynamic hackathon. These sessions were carefully crafted to foster the development of both technical proficiency and a critical understanding of AI’s broader implications. A highlight of the program was a presentation by Akram Zaytar from Microsoft, who showcased groundbreaking innovations from the AI for Good Lab. These included leveraging satellite technology for rapid disaster assessment and employing advanced data-centered mapping tools for humanitarian purposes.
