Visa Africa Fintech Accelerator Announces Its 4th Cohort of Startups

Visa’s Africa Fintech Accelerator has announced its fourth cohort, selecting 22 promising startups from across the continent. This initiative, which began in 2023, is designed to fuel the growth of early-stage fintech companies, providing them with the resources and mentorship needed to scale their operations and expand their customer base. The program culminates in a demo day, offering the selected startups a platform to showcase their innovations to potential investors and strategic partners.

Diverse Representation Across the Continent

The selected startups for the 12-week intensive program represent a diverse range of African nations, highlighting the breadth of fintech innovation occurring across the continent. Kenya leads the pack with five startups: Lemonade Payments, Muda, Sevi, ShopOkoa, and Twiva. Nigeria follows closely with four representatives: PressPayNg, Shiga Digital, Startbutton, and Vittas. Egypt, Morocco, and Zimbabwe each have two startups participating, while Uganda, Mauritius, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Botswana, Ivory Coast, and South Africa each contribute one startup to the cohort. This widespread participation underscores the increasing momentum and investment in financial technology solutions throughout Africa.

The Visa Africa Fintech Accelerator plays a crucial role in fostering innovation and driving financial inclusion across the continent. By providing these startups with access to mentorship, resources, and potential investors, Visa is helping to build a stronger and more vibrant fintech ecosystem in Africa. This latest cohort represents a significant step forward in achieving that goal.
