Opportunity: Amazon Global Start-Up Challenge

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Global Start-Up Challenge is a unique opportunity for web entrepreneurs all over the world to showcase their start-ups, get noticed and compete  to win some great rewards.

This year, there are 4 categories:

  1. Big Data & High Performance Computing
  2. Gaming
  3. Consumer Applications
  4. Business Applications

Who are eligible to enter?

(a) Individuals or sole proprietors who have reached the older of 18 years old or the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence and have the full legal capacity to participate in this Contest at time of entry; or

(b) Privately held businesses that have not generated more than $10 million USD in gross annual revenues and no more than $10 million USD in outside funding.

What will you get if you win?

The challenge has one “Grand Prize winner” in each of the 4 categories listed above.

Each grand prize winner will be awarded $50,000 in cash, $50,000 in AWS credits, as well as AWS Business-level support for one year and technical mentorship from Amazon Web Services.

The remaining Finalists in each category will receive $10,000 in AWS Credits.

The remaining Semi-Finalists will receive $2,000 in AWS Credits.

Also, all eligible entrants who submit a qualified entry into the contest will receive $25 in AWS Credits that will be issued at the conclusion of the contest.

The reward also includes access to top tier venture firms and press attention by top tech outlets such as TechCrunch and GigaOm.

How can you enter end when?

Startups are invited to make submissions online from September 14 through November 9, 2012.

If your start-up is based in Europe, Middle East, or Africa:

If your start-up is based in North, Central, or South America (including the Caribbean):

If your start-up is based in Asia Pacific:

The final round of judging will take place in January 2013 in San Francisco, California, and will be conducted by AWS founders and top engineers, and executives. Finalists will spend time with the AWS executive team and receive direct feedback on their start-ups.
