Doing Business in Africa: World Bank Report 2012

The World Bank’s Doing Business Project is an annual report that provides objective measures of business regulations and their enforcement across 183 economies and selected cities in the world.

The main purpose of the project is to encourage countries to compete towards more efficient regulation; offering measurable benchmarks for reform; and serving as a resource for academics, journalists, private sector researchers and others interested in the business climate of each country.

The 2012  report saw significant progress made by 5 African countries: São Tomé and Príncipe, Cape Verde, Sierra Leone, Burundi, and Morocco which climbed 21 places, from115 to 94.
